Let Love and Faithfulness Never Leave You.

3Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3, 3-4).

Yes, Love and faithfulness are two things that God Almighty value very highly and always demand His children to practice. Because, these two things are the most outstanding characteristics of God and He wants His children to live by them. Not only that, His eternal Laws are also built on the foundations of Love and Faithfulness.

In Psalm 89 the Psalmist says: Love and faithfulness always go before the LORD. That is, they are always with the LORD; in fact, His presence is marked by the manifestation of these two traits.

As you know, God is infinitely loving and eternally faithful to us; He never changes and His Word never changes; they are firmly established in Heavens.

14Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. (Psalm 89, 14)

In Lamentations 3, Prophet Jeremiah says: God’s love and compassions are new every morning and great is His faithfulness.

Remember, Prophet Jeremiah is writing these things while the Israelites were going through one of the worst times in their history as a nation. In 586 BC the Babylonians attacked Jerusalem and subdued it. The city and its people were under siege. Prophet Jeremiah was witnessing Death and destruction all over the city.

Prophet Jeremiah wrote these verses while going through great pain and distress. As you know; Israelites were living in rebellion and disobedience. Though, The LORD warned the people many times through Prophet Jeremiah, they still continued in their rebellion and finally God allows the Babylonians to conquer them.

However, despite all the destruction that Jeremiah was witnessing; he still had the hope that God will deliver the Israelites for the sake of His Faithfulness; because of His great love. And that hope is what we see manifested in the verses below.

22Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3, 22-23)

Saints, this is not just the experience of Prophet Jeremiah, we too, thousands of times have experienced the fruits of God’s Love and Faithfulness. Though a thousand times we had been unfaithful to God, He still remained faithful to us. As Prophet Jeremiah says: we are not consumed – not because of our righteousness but because of His faithfulness. See what Apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy.

If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. (2 Timothy 2:13)

In the book of Deuteronomy; it says: God’s love and faithfulness is steadfast, they never change.

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. (Deuteronomy 7, 9)

Well, now you know how much importance God attaches to Love and Faithfulness. However, we, believers in Christ do not comprehend this importance in its entirety. We hear Pastors preaching about practicing love and faithfulness in our Christian walk.

But how much do we really care about applying them in our daily lives? When our Heavenly Father advices us to practice love and faithfulness; He really mean it. He really wants us to live by them. Moreover, commanding us to bind them around our neck shows the eternal significance of these two traits.

As you know, when we bind something around our neck, it will be always visible to everyone. that means love and faithfulness should not be something that people see in our life once in a while but rather it should be something that is ever-present; an inseparable part of our daily life.

Saints, God created us in His image and likeness and He wants us to imitate everything He does and everything He loves. God is Love and He loves to love all of us. Also, He wants us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Love and faithfulness should not be just the fundamental characteristics of God alone; as His children, they should be our fundamental traits too.

Loving your neighbor and being faithful to him should be one of your top priorities as a Christian. Lack of love and faithfulness in your life will make you a false witness of Christ. Lord Jesus called us into His kingdom in order to bear fruits and without love and faithfulness, we cannot bear any fruits for the kingdom of God.

Also, great rewards are promised to those who practice love and faithfulness in their lives; they will help you win the favor of both God and man and also, they will become the main source of blessings in your life.

3Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3, 3-4).

We, as believers in Christ, all want God almighty to bless us. Nevertheless, blessings are not something that come by default. There are conditions attached to many of God’s blessings.

But Christians often ignore them and fail to fulfill them. They, think, attending church on Sunday or singing in the choir will open the doors for God’s blessings in their lives; but this is not true. God’s Blessings follow us when we follow God; How do we follow God? We follow God by obeying Him.

In Matthew 6, Lord Jesus says: First you seek God’s Kingdom and His righteousness and all other things will be added unto you.

31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6, 31 – 33)

So, the next question comes – how to seek God’s Kingdom and His Righteousness? It is by living in obedience to His Commandments. It is by Loving God with all your strength, with all your soul, and with all your heart; and also, by loving your neighbor as yourself.

When you love God, you will not do anything to displease Him. When you love your neighbor; you will not do anything to hurt him. When your life is guided by Love and Faithfulness, you will win the favor of both God and your neighbor.

Saints, therefore, let us bind love and faithfulness around our necks and write them on the tablets of our hearts. Let them be the symbols of our faith and hope that we have in Christ. Let them be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Let them inspire us to share more and bless more.

“The Lord passed before him (Moses) and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness…” (Exodus 34, 6)

Stay Blessed
